Daniel who resolved not to defile himself
(Da.1:1-16)
Introduction: The main topic of Letter Daniel is The owner of history is God(Da.2:21, 4:32). The first and basic thing to be accomplished in our walk of faith is to accept the fact that God is a superintendent of history. Even though we are the children of God, God can hold us up to ridicule before the history. By seeing why God did those things, we must hold to the covenant. Even though we are not qualified for his work, we must remember one thing that God uses his covenant people. The problems that happened to Daniel are happening to our fields in much the same way. We will have a close look at two requests Daniel was offered and how he confessed about them.
1.Daniel was tested to prove the confession of faith in the field(His identity)
(1)He was pressed to change his name for Israel
1)The meaning of the name:
①Daniel(God is my judge) → Belteshazzar(Their protector is god of Babylon)
②Hananiah(anyone just like God) → Shadrach(Learn from the sun god)
③Mishael(God is graceful) → Meshach(anyone like god of desire)
④Azariah(God is my help) → Abednego
2)The strategy of satan that makes ones status forget by changing their name
(2)True Identity as a child of God
1)The status and blessings of those who accepted Jesus Christ:
①Becoming the children of God ②Indwelling of the Holy Spirit
③Receiving peaceful mind and enlightenment when praying
④Binding the forces of darkness as long as living on the earth
⑤The military of Heaven are moving ⑥Heavenly citizen
⑦Gospel disciple
2)The Bible says the fact that Gods children never perish
(3)Hold onto the most valuable fact that He saved me and I am a child of God
1)In the field, Daniel refused to allow his name to be changed so that his status may be forgotten.(Da.8:1, 15,9:2)
2.Daniel was tested on his life
(1)He was required to eat the royal food and wine(the problem of eating, living and life)
(2)We must arrange the life with the gospel like Daniel(the blessing passing down to the next generation)
1)If our lives are not planned with the gospel, we may fail to get the blessing of world evangelization
2)There are deferences between the principal of life in the world and that of life before God(v.8)
3)Daniel was humble, confidant and peaceful in the gospel(v.12)
Conclusion: Our lives must be arranged to explain the gospel and salvation so that we could be the elite of gospel who conquer the world in the gospel. To emphasize a life makes it possible to make the gospel the true gospel. If we overlook this fact, we have no choice but to lose the blessings from the field. Please pray for the next generation. They are the ones who will stand firmly before the world like Daniel to show Gods authority and our living God to the world which is worshiping idols.
