Rise up, be our help
(Psalm 35:1-10)
Introduction: We are the people of the covenant. We should not only know the covenant but also believe it. What is the covenant? Gen. 3:15 says the offspring of the woman will crush the head of serpent, and it is the core of the covenant. The problem of Adam is also his descendants’ and the covenant he had will be delivered to them as well. Jesus is the Christ who crushed the head of Satan according to the promise, and He promised to be with us until the end of the world (Mt. 28:20). Being with us, God will fight against Satan for us and will guide us. This is the covenant.
1. What will you do at the time of hardships and crisis?
(1) We must only listen to God’s word without being shaken by word of others.
1) What kind of people are around us is important
- David was centered on the concept of following God’s word; however, he did something that he shouldn’t have done after his followers told him something similar to God’s word.(1 Sam. 23,24,26)
2) Even though there are many people around you, and they are out of the covenant, they are not helpful at all.
- King Saul who didn’t have assurance of God’s word was shaken by his people’s word and tried to kill David. (1 Sam. 24:9, 26:19)
(2) God wants you to focus on Him at the time of hardships.
1) God wants you to listen to His voice and concentrate on it.
① Problems and incidents are the opportunity for you to listen to the precise word of God.
② There wasn’t anyone who helped David, but he just tried to listen to God’s voice.
2) Whenever you fix your eyes on God, God lets you know His precise plan.
2. The spiritual blessings given by God when you fix your eyes on God.
(1) When you go with the name of Jesus Christ, God will fight for us.
1) We should not be a judge in the relationship of people and circumstances.
① We shouldn’t simply think everything happening to us is just God’s plan.
② We shouldn’t fight against even the people who give us suffering.
2) The battle of Christians is not against their circumstances and people, so all we have to do is just entrust everything to God. (Ps. 35:1, Eph. 6:12)
① Pray to break down the forces of darkness since it is the spiritual battle.
② Only God can solve the problems occurred from interpersonal relationship.
3) When you go with the name of Jesus Christ, God will fight for us. (Ex. 14:14)
(2) The results
1) God who fights for me (v. 2-3)
2) People without the covenant will be crumbled down with a shame after all (v. 4-7, the states of non-believers)
Conclusion: Satan who is our real enemy is trying to deceive us and give us failure by people and circumstances even now. The Holy Spirit is with us to defeat the power of darkness. Whenever you pray with the name of Jesus Christ, God will mobilize the army of the heaven and crumble the forces of darkness. God will give us victory, and non-believers will fall into the traps made by them whenever we pray. It is because we are the people of the covenant. Don’t fight with your own strength, and just experience God fighting for me. Find out the plan of God from the word, and just watch the work of God upon you.
